Linux Copy Data Management
OVERVIEW
Actifio provides a comprehensive copy data management solution for applications and file systems running on Linux operating systems.
Whether you need a better way to backup and protect your data, or need a more efficient means to provision data and environments for development and test data management, Actifio can help.
Actifio Virtual Data Pipeline(VDP) technology provides for reduction in development project timelines, storage infrastructure savings, fewer defects, improved development team efficiency, and dramatically improved protection and DR service-levels.
CHALLENGES
Enterprises using legacy backup architecture commonly face the following challenges:
Legacy backup products perform recurring full backups at least weekly, sometimes daily. These recurring full backups impact performance and backup windows.
Long backup windows also lead to a wider Recovery Point Objective(RPO). Recovering from proprietary backup formats will increase Recovery Time Objective(RTO) as well.
Add expensive deduplication appliances to store Linux System backups for multiple years and the total cost of ownership (TCO) increases even further. All of these problems grow exponentially with increasing Linux System sizes.

HOW Actifio HELPS
Actifio’s incremental forever architecture permanently eliminates the need for periodic “full-backups”.
Using Actifio Copy Data Management (CDM) businesses reduce risk by providing instant recovery of Linux Systems.
Users can also leverage Actifio backups to provision storage optimized Linux Systems with automated data masking of sensitive data for DevOps to help accelerate application test and release cycles.
Providing a cloud and storage agnostic solution, Actifio software can run in any public cloud or on-premises using any storage.
Enterprises reduce total cost of ownership by automating the creation, management and deletion of all Linux System copies using a single flexible software platform.

Frequently Asked Questions.
The Actifio Connector, a small, lightweight process installed on most common Linux distributions such as RHEL, SUSE Linux, and CentOS. The connector provides advanced data capture and recovery capabilities for physical servers. The Actifio Connector enables the Actifio appliance to discover supported applications on host servers, and ensures application consistent backup and capture. It also truncates the application logs on the host after the snapshot.
Actifio’s pricing model is very simple and easy to understand. It’s based on the amount of source data protected. For example: If an enterprise wants to use Actifio to protect 5 Linux Servers, each with 10 TB source size, the enterprise would need Actifio license for 50 TB of source data. Enterprises can use this license anywhere in private or public cloud.

Rapidly and efficiently mounting instant virtual copies for application development without impacting production.
Actifio LiveClone enables space efficient and automated data updates from production. Development and test can work with near real time data over the lifecycle of a project.
Actifio Workflows can also be used to rapidly feed data to masking and sub-setting processes with push-button automation.
Using up-to-date instances of production data for development, testing, and QA, code quality is improved, rework requirements and development lifecycles are reduced, and development lifecycles are reduced.
Actifio’s robust local/remote site synchronization makes it easy to support geographically distributed development teams and ensure they have the data they need to be effective.
