August 16, 2017

Actifio Continues Strong Momentum in Q2, Positioned the furthest for vision and execution in the “Visionaries quadrant” in Gartner’s 2017 Magic Quadrant and Recognized in Gartner’s Critical Capabilities Report

Boston, MA – Aug. 16, 2017 — Actifio, the Enterprise Data-as-a-Service (EDaaS) company, received the highest product score in the Fully Virtualized Environments Use Case in Gartner’s “Critical Capabilities for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions” (July 2017) report and is the furthest for vision and execution in the Visionaries quadrant of Gartner’s 2017 “Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions” (July 2017).

Gartner’s Magic Quadrant positioned Actifio highest on execution within the Visionaries quadrant, and furthest on completeness of vision. Actifio received the highest score in the Fully Virtualized Environments and second highest scores for both the Public Cloud Environments and Balanced Physical & Virtualized Environments Use Cases.

On the heels of a record Q2 with now over 2,700 global enterprises in 37 countries as customers, Actifio believes the Gartner report validates the vision, strategy and execution of Actifio, who pioneered Data Virtualization technology and redefined Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity for the always-on digital enterprises.

The company exceeded its sales targets for Q2 and set a new record of expansion sales with existing users. Over 56% of Actifio customers are driving digital transformation initiatives by delivering their Data-as-a-Service to accelerate DevOps, Analytics and leveraging the agility and economics of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud and IBM Bluemix infrastructure as a seamless extension of their datacenter in a hybrid cloud model.

Gartner evaluated Actifio for its pioneering data virtualization capabilities. These capabilities can be deployed as an appliance, as software-only or as a virtual appliance, often in the cloud environment.

“We set out on a mission to redefine how data is managed, protected and accessed in an always-on digital enterprise with an exponentially growing number of data consumers of even faster growing data size,” said Ash Ashutosh, founder and CEO of Actifio. “We feel this recognition from Gartner further validates what our users have known for several years: Actifio’s industry leadership in delivering speed, agility and ease of use at significantly lower costs for enterprise-grade backup and recovery delivering a highly available business that is able to leverage data for multiple digital transformation initiatives.”

“‘Critical capabilities'” are attributes that differentiate products/services in a class in terms of their quality and performance. Gartner recommends that users consider the set of critical capabilities as some of the most important criteria for acquisition decisions… Each vendor’s product or service is evaluated in terms of how well it delivers each capability, on a five-point scale. These ratings are displayed side-by-side for all vendors, allowing easy comparisons between the different sets of features.”*

“Gartner defines data center backup and recovery solutions as those solutions focused on providing backup capabilities for the upper-end midmarket and large enterprise environments.”** Gartner’s Magic Quadrants are based on rigorous analysis, backed by highly structured methodologies. The scoring and weighting methodology emphasizes backup and recovery performance, ease of use, and scalability.
