Sullivan to Lead Go-to-Market Strategy and Execution as the Company Establishes Leadership in a New Class of Data Storage

WALTHAM, Mass. – October 3, 2011 – Actifio™, the Protection and Availability Storage (PAS) platform company, today announced that Jim Sullivan has been named president. In this role, Sullivan leads go-to-market activities for Actifio as it establishes leadership in an entirely new class of storage. Most recently, Sullivan was vice president, worldwide sales, IBM System Storage.

Actifio has pioneered the industry’s first storage system optimized for managing copies of production data, eliminating redundant silos of IT infrastructure and data management applications. By introducing virtualization into data management, Actifio delivers an application-centric, SLA-driven solution that decouples the management of data from storage, network and server infrastructure and reduces costs by 10X. Actifio is proving to be the best data management solution for the virtual server environment and is being rapidly deployed in VMware environments.

Sullivan brings 23 years of storage industry experience and a stellar track record of positioning and scaling emerging and established companies for growth. Prior to it being acquired by IBM, Sullivan served as president of XIV, a market leader of next generation storage arrays. Sullivan spearheaded explosive triple-digit sales growth in his role at IBM System Storage, growing sales of XIV solutions in IBM from $3 million to more than $500 million in revenues in just three years.

“Actifio is a pioneer of next generation data management and its technology and solutions are positioned to fundamentally change the way companies manage data,” said Sullivan. “After more than two decades in the storage industry, for the first time since working at EMC, I see an opportunity to deliver a paradigm shift to the market by changing the way data is managed. I am excited to join Actifio and its group of experienced executives to drive adoption of this disruptive technology.”

Sullivan had outstanding 12-year tenure at EMC where he executed one of the storage industry’s fastest growths in sales, holding numerous leadership positions and culminating in the role of senior vice president of sales. Sullivan also served on the Board at AppIQ (acquired by HP) and Diligent (acquired by IBM), and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization devoted to the professional and personal growth of business leaders around the world.

“We are proud and delighted to welcome Jim to our team,” said Ash Ashutosh, founder and CEO of Actifio. “While Jim served on the Board at AppIQ, he was instrumental in helping me build the company to be a market leader in the Storage Resource Management market. His leadership experience, wealth of industry insight and proven track record are invaluable to Actifio as we continue to deliver a new era of Protection and Availability Storage solutions to market.”
