Actifio to Discuss Benefits of Data Management Virtualization at Kansas City VMware Users Group

December 1, 2010

WALTHAM, MA – December 1, 2010 – Actifio™, the leader in Data Management Virtualization (DMV), today announced that Martin Samourian, director of sales will speak at the Kansas City VMware Users Group (VMUG) being held at the Overland Park Convention Center, Overland Park, Kansas, on Dec. 6, 2010. This regional conference will provide a full day of virtualization keynote speeches, breakout sessions, and hands-on labs. The VMware User Group is an independent, global, customer-led organization, which maximizes members’ use of VMware and partner solutions through knowledge sharing, training, collaboration, and events.

The Actifio session: “Lower-Cost SRM Deployments,” will take place on Dec. 6, 2010 at 2:30 pm. Martin Samourian will pose two important questions in his presentation:

  • Why does it cost twenty times more to deploy and manage VMware SRM than to buy it?
  • Why is protecting your data in VMware environments not as simple as VMware itself?

Mr. Samourian will address these issues and discuss how Data Management Virtualization works with Server Virtualization to offer the same benefits of simplicity, agility and lower costs to data protection. Attendees will also hear from users who are successfully protecting their data in virtualized environments.

Actifio’s next-generation data protection software suite includes ActifioTM DP for data protection, ActifioTM DR for disaster recovery and ActifioTM BC for business continuity, all built on Actifio’s VirtualData Pipeline™ (VDP) technology. The software offering simplifies disaster recovery and data protection by combining storage virtualization, data de-duplication, compression, encryption and network optimization to automate the copy, store, move and restore operations, while helping IT deliver a service catalog with defined SLAs.

Translating business requirements is a 3-click process that includes choosing a business application, appropriate SLA, and virtual resources to deliver the SLA. Users now have zero-backup windows, instant restores, de-duplicated backup, disaster recovery and a platform for all future data management applications – while driving down the total cost of ownership up to 90 percent.

“Until now, VMware users have had to purchase expensive point tools to handle each part of the data management process along with multiple copies of data stored in redundant locations at each step of the process,” said Martin Samourian, director of sales, Actifio. “Data Management Virtualization is driving a paradigm shift in deploying VMware SRM to reduce the management complexity and take the needed steps to deliver a fully virtualized data center and cloud based services.”
