Verizon, Actifio Partner on Data Virtualization Hybrid Cloud
May 11, 2016
Next month Verizon will launch a cloud backup and disaster recovery service that uses Actifio’s copy data virtualization technology platform to accelerate data access and reduce enterprises’ reliance on multiple storage applications.
Dubbed Premise to Cloud Backup, the hybrid cloud service supports midsized and large enterprises that use any and all combination of colocation, hosting, off-premises servers and other public clouds, says Dan Jablonski, director of cloud and IT solutions at Verizon Enterprise Solutions in an interview.
“It gives us a great offering and a great bridge for CIOs between good old compute platforms and managed services, which are very valuable, but they can be a very large decision,” he says. “What they’re looking for in a provider is modularity and options to turn up and turn down to generate more value for them. That’s what we consider hybrid. They’re aware that their businesses are moving at greater speed, therefore they need their IT providers to move at greater speed.”
Verizon will focus on connectivity, infrastructure and security at an enterprise level, while Actifio’s responsibilities include its platform and complex deployments, says Jablonski.
