Ingram Micro to distribute Actifio Copy Data Storage (CDS) appliances

May 14, 2013

Ingram Micro has been appointed the exclusive Australian distributor for enterprise storage management specialist, Actifio.

Actifio’s Copy Data Storage (CDS) appliances deliver management of “copy data” – such as backups, virtual machine snapshots, archives, and test data – and are hardware-agnostic, enabling customers to use existing and preferred hardware storage solutions.

arn_logo“Actifio’s technology is unique,” Ingram Micro senior director, Enterprise Technology, David Lenz, said. “Because of its innovative approach to managing copy data by eliminating multiple copies and radically simplifying data management it can deliver significant savings to customers through reduced storage requirements, fewer software licenses, and lower management and network costs. “Actifio offers a very strong complement to our existing storage and data management solutions. Actifio’s CDS appliances work seamlessly with storage solutions from our existing Enterprise vendors, and are tightly integrated with VMware.

“They support a wide variety of server environments including Microsoft Windows, Unix, Linux, and IBM i Servers and application servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Sharepoint and Oracle database servers.”

Actifio’s Regional Director, A/NZ, Budd Ilic said Actifio has already had some notable successes with Australian customers. The distribution agreement with Ingram Micro is the logical next step in expanding the company’s presence in this market.

“David and his team have a great depth of expertise in the enterprise market, and we’re looking forward to working closely with them to bring new resellers on board and grow Actifio’s awareness and market share,” he said.

“We offer very strong support to our channel partners, and it was important to us to partner with a distribution partner with both the breadth of reach and the technical capability to help us to grow a strong channel partnership and develop this market.”

Lenz said Ingram Micro will work with Actifio to provide education and training for resellers. Actifio’s appliances will also feature in Ingram Micro’s Partner Technology Centre so resellers and their customers can see the appliances operating in a “real-world” datacentre environment.

“This is a very innovative technology, and seeing how it’s used is a great way to fully understand the cost savings, management benefits and return-on-investment that it offers,” says Lenz.

Based on the company’s innovative Virtual Data Pipeline (VDP) technology, Actifio’s CDS appliances enable customers to reduce the costs of capturing, storing and managing copy data by:

  • Eliminating the need for multiple data-management software stacks – such as backup, snapshot, disaster recovery and test/dev software
  • Reducing storage capacity requirements through efficient data-deduplication
  • Dramatically lowering network bandwidth usage requirements through highly optimised network replication
  • Providing simple-to-use and highly cost-effective copy, store, move and restore solutions for backup, virtualisation deployment and disaster recovery

Actifio will hold an official launch event on August 6 at the Shangri La Hotel in Sydney where the Actifio CEO, Ash Ashutosh, will present alongside a number of Australian Actifio customers.
