Actifio Unveils Sky Platform Version 8, Continues Evolution to Data as a Service

Actifio has released v 8 of its Sky data virtualization platform. Sky is a virtual appliance based on Actifio’s Virtual Data Pipeline, the component of the platform responsible for transporting data post-capture. The vendor claims this is the largest software release in its history, and the v8 update targets the opportunities and challenges generated by ongoing cloud adoption as enterprises continue to store data in hybrid environments. New features centered on cloud-based functionality include the ability to incorporate cloud-native applications with support for AWS, Azure and GCP, as well as the inclusion of object storage from a multitude of object stores such as S3 and Azure Blob, as well as those offered by startups like Wasabi.
